Cops "Bold as Lions"?

As usual, this week's newsletter went out via email (FREE to subscribe) and is posted on our social media pages as well. However, I always repost them here as resource or just in case you missed one. Accordingly, here again is Cops "Bold as Lions?" (a biblical view). Do you understand that your service in law enforcement does NOT grant you a place in heaven? Valhalla is a myth folks -- being in a right relationship with God in Christ is the ONLY way.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend.

Are You Deceived?

Having just returned from our mission outreach to our own in DC and VA during Police Week 2016, this week's devotional side comes to us from fellow cop-turned-minister Brian Stewart in which he asks a very pertinent question -- "Are You Deceived?". Why pertinent? Because many of the well-meaning messages we (law enforcement) receive at our memorials and Police Week events are not biblical in nature. Again, we can't earn or otherwise "badge" our way into heaven or out of hell (Ephesians 2:8 for starters). Rather, it is ONLY by born again in Christ that we can be saved. "Blessed are the peacekeepers" is not in the Bible, and "Blessed are the peacemakers" (Matthew 5:9) is not about what we do as cops unless we are sharing the peace found only in a right relationship with God in Christ. Again, Brian asks a very important question (the answer to which has potentially eternal consequences). Here again is "Are You Deceived?".

Radical Cops and Radical Christians for Radical Times

This week's newsletter details our outreach mission to our own in DC and VA during National Police Week and recaps the message I shared at the RISE Christian Law Enforcement Conference. Understand that our Lord is calling us to radical faith and service in these radical times. My prayer is that it will both challenge and encourage you (and don't forget to pass it on). See Radical Cops and Radical Christians for Radical Times.

Blessings!

Breaching the Barricade

We had a tiring but thoroughly uplifting time of iron sharpens iron fellowship and ministry at the Breaching the Barricade Conference and National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day events in Indiana last weekend (and what an outstanding job by fellow servant-warrior Jim Bontrager). Accordingly, the Holy Spirit prompted me to write on what it means to "breach" a "barricade" from both a tactical military/law enforcement) and spiritual point of view. While the newsletter/Bible study went out yesterday to our email subscribers (FREE) and on Facebook, here it is again in this format as well: Breaching the Barricade. Finally, I posted a bunch of pics from the events on my Facebook page (search "Romans Thirteenfour" -- my "UC" name on FB in order to comply with agency concerns -- and send me a "friend" request).

Finally, two quick prayer requests (in addition to those in the newsletter):

(1) Please pray for cop-turned-chaplain Frank Ruffatto of Peace Officer Ministries (POM) and his family. Frank lost his bride Terri to cancer this morning and the kids lost a mother (etc.).

(2) Pray for my fellow FCPO board members, myself, and all those traveling to the FCPO conference next week: wisdom for us as a board, safety for those coming, God's touch on the speakers, and open hearts to the messages.

Blessings!

A Heart Cry for Law Enforcement

This week's newsletter and law enforcement devotional has gone out to our worldwide subscribers (twice in fact -- first one had a bunch of stuff that came up missing) but here it is again for those who have not yet signed up or want to refer back as a reference: A Heart Cry for Law Enforcement. Can't say enough good things about fellow warrior Jim Bontrager and his team. Beautiful area and well worth the drive and effort. That said, those who missed can check out some of the pics that fellow FCPO board member Lt. Chuck Urgo took by clicking on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Week. Lots more on our Facebook pages (see left sidebar, scroll down).

If you're in the Denver area, please join us this Thursday at Calvary Aurora starting at 7 PM where I'll be teaching a message I've entitled God's "300". If you're not, then stay tuned for the recap in next week's newsletter!

I will be blogging about the conference in the near future -- stay tuned.

A Cop's Courageous Faith

This week's newsletter and devotional has gone out to our worldwide subscribers but, as usual, I've posted it here as well. The past week has served as yet another reminder that we as Christian (those born again into a life-saving/life-changing personal relationship with God in Christ) officers MUST have a "Code 3" sense of urgency to both courageously LIVE our faith and share our Savior and His plan of salvation with others (and with our family members and colleagues in particular). Here are but two examples:

(1) The comments that followed a recent article in PoliceOne, Five Traits of Good Street Cops, reveals a snapshot of the depth of hatred in our profession towards things of "faith" (in this case, faith in whatever you decide to believe in - SIGH).

(2) I serve as the President of the Colorado State Investigators' Association and this year's annual training conference was held last week. The fine folks at our venue allowed me to set up our Centurion table where I displayed a plethora of FREE resources. I did not man the table or make any mention of same during my many announcements at the conference but STILL there were those who acted as if they would spontaneously combust if they walked past it, not to mention the few nasty comments about having to see the display. Praise God, this is still America and my table in a private facility was no less egregious than the unbeliever driving by a church whilst on or off duty!

What's my point? We are truly a lost profession desperately in need of the only One who can save us. Ask the Holy Spirit for the courage and faith to boldly live and share the hope we have in Christ with others. As I've said so many times before, the alternative (an eternity in hell) is untenable.

With that, click on A Cop's Courageous Faith. Don't forget to pass it on!

"To Serve & Protect" -- a "Valentine's Day" Message on Marriage and Relationships

This week's newsletter and devotional has gone out to our worldwide readership but -- as always -- I've reposted it here as well.  Just click on "To Serve & Protect -- A Cop's Valentine's Day."   Are you biblically serving and protecting your wife and family?

Take the time to apply this wholly biblical message to your lives, marriages and relationships -- then pass it on to others.   Lots of news and announcements as well, including but not limited to a repost of a message written by my brother, Tulsa PD Cpt. Travis Yates (Ten-Four Ministries)  that uses Tim Tebow as a model for how ALL Christians should be living and serving.  In addition, it includes a great short (4 minute) and wholly Christian warrior-relevant video by former Marine and current Elkhart (IN) PD Chaplain Jim Bontrager.

As always, Diana and I remain at your service...

Stay the course!
