A New Year's Arrest
My annual New Year's newsletter and Bible study message -- "A New Year's Arrest" -- has gone out to our worldwide list of email subscribers (always FREE for you) and is posted here as well. Have you allowed Christ to take your heart "under arrest?"

God's Rescue Mission -- New Year Blessings!
On behalf of The Centurion Law Enforcement Ministry and the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers, Happy New Year! My prayer is that you will follow hard (Psalm 63:8) after our true Commander and Chief -- our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ -- in this New Year. Ask God to use you for His purpose. We may very well be in the "end times" and, as such, those of us who call ourselves "Christian" should have a sense of urgency about living and and sharing Christ with others. Moreover, those of us serving in the God-ordained profession of law enforcement who already know Christ as Lord and Savior need to understand that "Code 3" sense of urgency all the more inasmuch as perhaps only 1 in 10 of our colleagues having a saving faith in the ONLY One who can give it. Let's make 2013 a "new year" of living for Him in deeper ways while also sharing Christ's love and plan with others.
If you are reading this and have yet to make a decision for Him, let me urge you to do so now. I've posted a series links to some outstanding resources to help you do just that -- look left and scroll down to the links under Know God? True "Officer Safety." If you have already made that decision in your own life but have fallen away from your "first love," then turn AWAY from your sin and back to Him today. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33 (NLT), Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
In over a quarter-century of service, God has often placed me in the right place at the right time to save lives -- to "rescue" others (no offense to our firefighting brethren, but cops are almost always at the scene first...LOL). That said, our Lord -- the greatest "cop" of all time -- is the true "rescuer." God sent His only Son to come to this earth for one purpose -- to "rescue" us from our sin by dying in our place on a cross and then rising again in three days. That's THE rescue mission -- and the subject of this past week's law enforcement newsletter and Bible study: God's Rescue Mission. As always, we encourage you to adapt our studies to your own faith walk and then pass it on to others. Lots of news (including the "411" about this week's meeting and study), announcements and resources as well -- enjoy.

A Cop's New Year -- TCLEM/FCPO-Denver Newsletter
My hope is that you have both survived and thrived through Christmas. Now the New Year is fast approaching and many of us will be serving in the chaos and miscreant activity that typifies the holiday – and we will be putting our lives on the line as we do so. Accordingly let me again urge you to be sure you have a right standing with God in Christ – the eternal definition of “officer safety” by His perfect standard (the Bible). Read on for more…
If you’re in the Denver area, we invite you to join us this Thursday (Dec. 29th) at Calvary South Denver in Littleton (www.CalvaryCSD.org for directions) for our final Centurion Law Enforcement Ministry/FCPO-Denver “Cop Church” fellowship of 2011 where I’ll be teaching a very interactive, profession/life-relevant Bible study that I’ve entitled Trusting Your “Gut” (“Feelings” vs. God’s Word). I’ll of course submit a detailed RECAP in next week’s newsletter – stay tuned!
New Year’s Resolutions (“A Cop’s New Year”):
The New Year will also give rise to the proverbial “resolutions” that often mimic the Christian walk of many of us: starts out with a sprint but then fades to a crawl (or not moving at all). The same can be said for many law enforcement careers: we start out with “gung-ho,” change-the-world enthusiasm but end-up as RODs (“retired on duty” officers) long before we turn in our shields. My prayer for each of you in 2012 is that you will seek the power of the Holy Spirit for both a renewed and sustained commitment to your relationship with Christ and your families as well as to the “ministry” of law enforcement. Let’s run hard and finish strong in the power of the Lord!
Is Christ your true Lord and Savior? If your life ended today do you KNOW for sure where you would spend eternity? On what authority? Have you repented (a “180”) of your sin, sought God’s forgiveness and entered into a life-saving/life-changing relationship with Him through His Son? Perhaps you “feel” that you are already a Christian yet there is no EVIDENCE that would PROVE you “guilty” of being a true believer in a court of law. If either of these describes your “condition,” let me strongly encourage you to scroll down the left side of this website to True Officer Safety ( How Can I Be Saved?). There you will find a series of links that will help you make a decision for Christ – TODAY. RESOLVE in 2012 to LIVE and SHARE your faith with others (including simply passing on our newsletters, website info and brochures or inviting a colleague to join us on a Thursday evening). My own pastor, Sam Park of Calvary South Denver, shares my heart to make 2012 a “Year of Evangelism.” Take a moment to read from his Tuesday Night Dialogue (the Tuesday night service that I and many TCLEM/FCPO-Denver folks also attend) Newsletter:
“…I want to share my heart with you by URGING you to make this year a year of personal evangelism. By "personal evangelism", I don't mean that you have to share the whole plan of the Gospel and lead someone in the "Sinner's prayer" every time you speak to them. What I'm talking about is simply being vocal about your faith by living it "out loud" more this year than you did in 2011.
When I worked at the Auto Club of Southern CA, I took my Bible with me and kept it on my desk in very plain sight. And during my breaks, I would read it in the break room. People would ask me all the time, "What are you reading?" I'd tell them that I was reading "God's Word." And many times that would lead into lengthy conversations… I never had to stand in the middle of my office to "preach" the Gospel to anyone but because I was living my faith "out loud", everyone knew what I was about. Throughout the years, I had the privilege of bringing many of my co-workers to church and seeing many of them accept the Lord, all because I was living my faith "out loud".
My challenge to you is to just live your faith "out loud" and be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit as you progress through this coming year.”
I concur! Resolve to not let “officer safety” to cross over into being “safe” about sharing Christ with others. Rather, let’s resolve to loudly (boldly) live is (as) Christ (Philippians 1:21) in 2012 and beyond.

Happy New Year and Meeting Cancellation Notice!
First, let me use this opportunity to send out a big ole' Happy New Year from Diana and I to all those on our email list and our website followers in general. I'm both stoked and in prayer about where and how God will use this ministry in 2011. Many of us will be working so let's utilize an use an extra ounce of the unique "cop sense" God has given us and be sure you go to our Lord in prayer during your shifts. Also remember to check back here (website) frequently for the latest prayer requests and announcements.
MESSAGE FOR OUR FCPO-DENVER LOCALS:
Well folks, after prayer, watching the weather forecast (current blizzard conditions), advice from my better half and using my much-honed investigation skills (LOL) , I'm cancelling our meeting tonight due to adverse weather conditions. Interstate was slow but not too bad -- yet. However side streets are slick as snot and I'm not going to put folks at risk by having them come out in this.
Soooo -- meeting cancelled for tonight. I'm willing to reschedule to meet on Sat AM for those who need some corporate prayer time -- let me know if that is a must and I'll make it happen. If not, I hope you will consider joining us next Tuesday at Calvary South Denver's Tuesday Night Dialogue -- "TND" -- where Pastor Sam Park will be teaching an in-depth study on Samson and Delilah from Judges 16. Most of you should remember my overview on this subject and the fact that this is very much a cop-relevant topic. A number of us (Centurion Ministry/FCPO-Denver) already attend TND -- I serve there weekly -- and our own Matt Wallenburg is regularly part of the worship team. Please join us. "Happy (and SAFE) New Year" and More!
Dear Fellow “Blue” Knights:
2010 is imminent and many will undoubtedly get reports kicked back for using the wrong year for a month or so. In addition, most of us will be working at least part of the holiday weekend. Let our first “New Year’s resolution” be to take on an extra measure of "sheepdog" safety for both ourselves and our brother/sister officers, including asking God to protect us and bring us home safe in 2010.
MEETING UPDATE:
Just a reminder for our Front Range locals and visitors that we will NOT be meeting tomorrow (New Year’s Eve). Rather, our next meeting will be the first of 2010: Thursday, January 7th! I’ll have more in the next newsletter but I'm looking forward to seeing everyone.
Speaking of resolutions from a Christian perspective (yes, let’s decide today to make New Year’s a CHRISTIAN holiday) check this out from http://www.gotquestions.org/:
Philippians 4:13 tells us, “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” John 15:5 declares, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” If God is the center of your New Year’s resolution, it has a chance for success, depending on your commitment to it. If it is God’s will for something to be fulfilled, He will enable you to fulfill it. If a resolution is not God honoring and/or is not in agreement in God’s Word, we will not receive God’s help in fulfilling the resolution.
So, what sort of New Year’s resolution should a Christian make? Here are some suggestions: (1) Pray to the Lord for wisdom (James 1:5) in regards to what resolutions, if any, He would have you make; (2) Pray for wisdom as to how to fulfill the goals God gives you; (3) Rely on God’s strength to help you; (4) Find an accountability partner who will help you and encourage you; (5) Don’t become discouraged with occasional failures; instead allow them to motivate you further; (6) Don’t become proud or vain, but give God the glory. Psalm 37:5-6, “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.”

Great police work but, in my view, also very much a God-ordained, Esther “… for a time such as this” moment. (4) Fellow CO State Criminal Investigator Cliff Hinson has asked us to pray for a colleague who is fighting cancer.
(5) Virginia-based Federal Special Agent Dexter Wells has asked us to prayer for a fellow SA (“Dan”) who has suffered a stroke.
2010 is imminent and many will undoubtedly get reports kicked back for using the wrong year for a month or so. In addition, most of us will be working at least part of the holiday weekend. Let our first “New Year’s resolution” be to take on an extra measure of "sheepdog" safety for both ourselves and our brother/sister officers, including asking God to protect us and bring us home safe in 2010.

Just a reminder for our Front Range locals and visitors that we will NOT be meeting tomorrow (New Year’s Eve). Rather, our next meeting will be the first of 2010: Thursday, January 7th! I’ll have more in the next newsletter but I'm looking forward to seeing everyone.
Speaking of resolutions from a Christian perspective (yes, let’s decide today to make New Year’s a CHRISTIAN holiday) check this out from http://www.gotquestions.org/:
Philippians 4:13 tells us, “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” John 15:5 declares, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” If God is the center of your New Year’s resolution, it has a chance for success, depending on your commitment to it. If it is God’s will for something to be fulfilled, He will enable you to fulfill it. If a resolution is not God honoring and/or is not in agreement in God’s Word, we will not receive God’s help in fulfilling the resolution.
So, what sort of New Year’s resolution should a Christian make? Here are some suggestions: (1) Pray to the Lord for wisdom (James 1:5) in regards to what resolutions, if any, He would have you make; (2) Pray for wisdom as to how to fulfill the goals God gives you; (3) Rely on God’s strength to help you; (4) Find an accountability partner who will help you and encourage you; (5) Don’t become discouraged with occasional failures; instead allow them to motivate you further; (6) Don’t become proud or vain, but give God the glory. Psalm 37:5-6, “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.”

Moore, and we’re planning to extend more directly into the lives of young officers just coming into law enforcement. A portion of the grant is to help us guide them in how to deal with the strange new police culture they have entered. Law enforcement changes not only their lives but the lives of those around them. For many the change is too great to handle, resulting in a high divorce rate, dependence on alcohol or drugs and closing themselves off from friends and family. We are beginning a pilot program to tackle this problem right here in Chattanooga . If it bears the fruit we are hoping for, we hope it can be extended to agencies elsewhere.
We close the book on 2009 reflecting on several significant accomplishments:
· A new Executive Director to work closely with the National Board in carrying out new initiatives in taking Christ to law enforcement personnel.
· New enlarged office space and computer software to handle our expanding needs.
· A heightened sense that “God is at work” through FCPO to help us accomplish our three-fold mission of:
o Reaching the lost in law enforcement (LE) with Christ’s gospel.
o Encouraging Christian law enforcement personnel to be bold in sharing their faith with fellow officers and those whose lives they impact, and
o Providing spiritual comfort and support to who are touched by the ministry.
