Blessed are the Peacekeepers?

This week's Centurion Law Enforcement Ministry/FCPO newsletter and devotional -- Blessed are the Peacekeepers? -- has gone out to our worldwide list of subscribers but, as usual, I've posted it here as well.  Lots  of news, announcements, resources and an important devotional that will come as a surprise to many of you.  Check it out and send me your feedback.

Tomorrow I will be chartering the new Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers chapter in Castle Rock, CO (Capstone Ministry/FCPO-Castle Rock) -- prayers appreciated for this dynamic new law enforcement outreach (and please join us if you're in the area).

Speaking of Capstone, here are some pics from of our 1st joint law enforcement baptism service (pictured are Nicole Gerlach -- wearing my shirt, no less, Officer Wes Body, Lt. Adam Reeves, Officer Martin Toetz -- who forgot his shirt -- LOL).

PRAYER REQUESTS:

** The following is from Inv. Tom Stanton in MA.  Please pray.  Their son is also a LEO.

I haven't been feeling well the past few months and the doctors discovered that I developed a second form of leukemia as well as my primary leukemia had returned - virulent and deadly.  I am due to be admitted to Farber/Brigham & Women's hospital in Boston. I will be there for as long as a month and so will Eileen and son Tom. Making arrangements, it’s been hectic! Eileen has been relentless networking, filling out form after form and caring for me.  The treatment which is very dangerous, complicated, intense and will last at least a year including isolation (no visitors)' frequent treatments and check-ups, etc., etc. I will let you know more in a while. Please keep Eileen, Tom and I in your prayers and God willing next year at this time we will meet at church and go for lunch after services.

Don't forget to follow us on Facebook:  The Centurion Law Enforcement Ministry/FCPO-Denver.

Cops and Temptation

This week's newsletter/law enforcement Bible study is UP!   Just click on "Cops and Temptation"  (please forgive the typo or two -- I was up late finishing).   This week's newsletter includes not only the recap from last week's profession-relevant Bible study but also a plethora of new links and resources.  In addition, two Castle Rock (CO) officers have started a new FCPO chapter called the Capstone Ministry.   See the local meeting schedules (eyes left, scroll down) for more!

Don't forget to check out the updated prayer requests in last week's post (scroll down) along with those below.

Stay safe on the job but utterly radical in your walk with Christ our Captain.

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS  (updated 1/30/13):

-- Colleagues with Denver PD ask that we pray for the wife of one of their lieutenants (and the LT as well) as his wife has been diagnosed with stage IV cancer.

-- Buena Vista (CO) Sgt. Dean Morgan sends the following:
On February 16th, 2013, there will be a benefit for Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Grant Williams. Deputy Williams was diagnosed with Desmoplastic, small-round-cell-tumor, a form of cancer. Grant is only 31 years old and has a wife and two young daughters. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Army. Deputy Williams has started his chemotherapy this week. Grant has exhausted his personal time and his sick time but the law enforcement community in the Lake County area has pulled together to help him with his financial obligations.
The benefit for Grant will be held on February 16th starting at 4:00 PM at the Eagles in Leadville, located at 812 Hemlock. Following the dinner, there will be entertainment, fund raising, and raffles. Accounts have also been set up in Deputy Williams’ benefit at the First Mountain Bank in Leadville. Also, donations can be made at any First Bank by calling (800) 964-3444.  For more information on how you can help, please contact Nicole at (303) 903-9887.

-- Scott Chamberlain in Oregon sent the following request from Erv Mudder:
We request prayers for retired Oregon City PD officer John Behan. This is the info I received from his daughter in law:
"John is going thru a pretty hard time right now. Leah, his wife, has been in the hospital going on two weeks now. She went in to get a heart valve repaired and has been inundated with several complications. It's been a tough and trying new year so far."
Let's pray!

-- One of the two Castle Rock (CO) officers who have started a new FCPO chapter (Capstone Ministry) there was involved in a serious auto accident and will have surgery tomorrow.  Please pray for CRPD Ofc. Todd West and for the medical team.

-- Please be in prayer for the Las Vegas Metro officers realing from the murder/suicide of one of their lieutenants (took out his wife and son before taking his own life).  Lots of "why's."  Pray also for the families involved.

-- Pray for a CO Western Slope crime analyst who is facing surgery while also battling cancer issues.

-- Pray for the folks in NM dealing with the much-publicized mass murder there perpetrated by a 15 y.o. on his family.  I have many friends there who are in the thick of this (Calvary Albuquerque was my former church and I knew Pastor Griego).
