The Time is NOW! Centurion LE Ministry and FCPO Newsletter

I'm back from this year's Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers National Conference in Chicago and I'm both beat (missed workout -- ARRGHH!) and reinvigorated at the same time. We had a powerful time of iron sharpens iron fellowship, outstanding worship, and excellent, profession-relevant "warrior-training" from God's word. A hotel staffer listening to our meetings also came to Christ during the conference (AWESOME -- thank you Jesus for using us for your purposes!)!!

Speakers included Chief Randy Brashears, Del Walinga, Ray Fairman, Jack Crans (wore a tie -- sheesh/LOL:), Kristi Neace, and more. My fellow FCPO board members and I also shared our hearts during the Sunday communion service (another powerful, Holy Spirit-inspired event). I'll be sharing more in upcoming newsletters -- stay tuned. Those who missed should really consider joining us next year in Orlando!

One of the major themes was the same sense of urgency -- a NOW! message -- that I've been pushing hard for some time now. The questions are clearly, "If not you, then WHO? If not now, then WHEN?" Will YOU respond in obedience as Isaiah "the cop" did in Isaiah 6:8 (Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!")?

Accordingly, this is also a very opportune time to encourage my readers to become members of the FCPO (go to www.FCPO.org). "What's in it for me?" you might ask (only $25 to join -- sheesh). Except for your dues and donations being tax deductible -- there is NOTHING in it for YOU (it's not about YOU) other than the satisfaction of knowing that you're supporting an organization dedicated to bringing officers to Christ, deepening the faith of those who have already done so, saving marriages, strengthening families, preventing police suicides and much more. The Great Commission is a command -- not a suggestion. Simply by becoming a member you become an active participant in that Commission and not a "ROD" (Retired on Duty) bystander. The whiners out that can also rest assured that neither myself nor my fellow board members receive anything for our service other than the honor of serving. Rather, most of us donate many hundreds of dollars -- God's money anyway -- to "the cause." We also pay for the conferences like everyone else.

The Denver-area meeting schedules have also been updated here on our website along with the latest prayer requests -- next post below. Please read and pray.

Lastly, a local FOP chapter is hosting a benefit for wounded Thornton (CO) PD Motor Officer Jason Dougherty: LOCAL (Denver-Area) Event -- Benefit for wounded Thornton PD Officer Joe Dougherty. Please consider giving to help one of our own!

On Saturday, September 24, 2011, Thornton Police Motor Officer Joe Dougherty was performing routine traffic enforcement on his motorcycle when he was struck from behind and then run over by a DUI driver. He suffered critical injuries and has undergone multiple surgeries.

The Colorado Fraternal Order of Police and Thornton FOP Lodge 16 have joined with the support of other lodges in putting on a Benefit Dinner/Texas Hold-em Tourney/Silent Auction fundraiser to raise money to assist Joe and his family through this very difficult time. THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD.... SATURDAY OCTOBER 22, 2011 beginning at NOON..... (REFER TO ATTACHED FLYER) This fundraising event will be held at the Colorado State Lodge Building located at 2701 W 84th Avenue, Westminster, Colorado (northeast corner of W 84th Ave and Clay Street - 3 blocks east of 84th and Federal).

If you cannot attend the fundraiser, but would like to make a donation to assist Joe and his family, donations may be made at any Rocky Mountain Law Enforcement Federal Credit Union branch location to the "F.O.P. Lodge 16 Fund Account" or checks, payable to the same may be sent to:
