Off duty trooper takes own life in CHURCH parking lot after domesic, pursuit

This is incredibly sad. My question, and perhaps the same question being asked by another Christian cop (from news story): Church Elder and Police Officer Chuck Pierce told News First 5, "we're saddened. If we had been aware of what was going on then maybe we could've been of help."

Indeed, that is the question. Just as many of us wonder what we could have done...why we were not "there" (wished we could have been there) at Columbine, Platte Canyon, the twin towers on 9/11 (etc.), I also pray that God will place me and other Christian officers in "harms way" to come along side a fellow warrior BEFORE this type of thing occurs. Folks, let's use the same proactive diligence we use on the street to "sniff out" our own who are hurting and desperately in need of a Savior. We are in a war and there are those within our own ranks -- military and LEOs -- that need someone to "defend" them from the enemy. Again, let's "run to the battle and ask God to send us into the "enemy's camp" to protect and serve even our own.

Please pray for our lost brother's family, his colleagues, and the responding Woodland Park officers who had tried to stop him before he pulled into -- of all places -- a church parking lot where he took his own life. We'll talk more about this at tomorrow's meeting and in next week's newsletter.

Special thanks to my Chief who brought this to my attention.
