Meeting Reminder and Urgent Prayer Requests
I'm teaching at our church's Tuesday evening service (Tuesday Night Dialogue -- the "dialogue" is with God) tomorrow so am putting off the newsletter until Wednesday evening. However, I wanted to send out a quick meeting reminder along with some urgent prayer requests.
MEETING REMINDER: Thursday, 1900-2000, Calvary South Denver in Littleton.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
(1) As many of you know, another NM officer went down in the line of duty last week. Sandoval County Sheriff's Sergeant Joe Harris was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a burglary suspect along New Mexico 126. He and another deputy were conducting a stakeout due to a rash of recent cabin burglaries in the area. The deputies attempted to take the man into custody when they observed him breaking into a home. Sergeant Harris and the suspect were both fatally wounded in the ensuing shootout. Sergeant Harris had served with the agency for six years and had previously retired from the Rio Rancho Police Department after 20 years of service. He is survived by his wife, daughter and two sons. Funeral Arrangements: Services will be held TUESDAY, JULY 21 AT 11AM, at the Arena in Rio Rancho off 528. Reception following at the Rio Rancho Middle School.
Please keep Joe's family and his fellow officers in prayer. Does anyone know if Joe knew Chris as his Savior??
(2) Englewood PD and Denver Metro Area Graffiti Task Force Director Jason Pearson, sent the following two items:
(a) USAF SSgt. Dennis Kuritz is requesting prayer and writes, "I am leaving tomorrow for Los Angeles AFB. My father-in-law is in poor health (bone/colon cancer) and the AF is moving us to be closer to them to assist where we can."
Let's lift them in prayer folks! Dennis's email address is fyrgeek@hotmail.com.
(b) Jason writes, "I visited Densey on Friday and watched him learn to drive his wheelchair. He is controlling the chair by mouth right now, using blowing and sucking motions to control the motor. His therapist is very impressed not only with his stamina but his sheer determination to get his upper body working. His immediate goal is to get his hands working so he can upgrade to a joystick. Densey was able to flex both biceps and wiggled both sets of fingers and moved his thumbs. He still cannot make a fist, but is improving more and more, every time I see him. He was wearing his Westminster PD polo shirt (thanks, guys!) and was quite touched by the collection of patches, shirts and cards he has in his new recovery suite. Mary finally has a bed to sleep in and his new room -- plenty large and comfortable. DPD has donated a car for Mary to use (thanks, Chief Whitman!), and I have 2 female cops and my wife who are signed up to volunteer to take Mary out if she gets tired of the hospital. Densey made it known that he would like to have a BBQ soon and meet all his new friends. It goes without saying, as soon as he is able to leave the hospital for outings, MAGTF will throw this guy one heck of a BBQ! I will get that worked out as soon as Densey is able to venture out into the crisp, Colorado sunshine. Keep that PO Box full of cards and gifts, I am making runs to Densey's room twice a week now, so thank you for your support and prayers for this family!"

I will get by to visit Densey soon but, in the meantime, let's continue to pray for our brother and his family. Also, PRAISE GOD for answered prayer already! See previous newsletters/this site for further details if you've missed them. Jason -- thanks for your faithfulness Bro!
See ya Thursday and pray for me as I teach/preach tomorrow (better yet, join us)!
