Answering the Call
Dear Fellow Warriors:
As planned, our locals and visitors will meet tomorrow (Thursday, July 22nd) at Calvary South Denver in Littleton from 1900-2000 hours. Please pass this newsletter and our website information on to your colleagues. Better yet, personally invite them to join us. Our topic, a continuation of 1 Samuel, is entitled “Answering the Call,” has direct application not only to us in law enforcement but to all who have accepted Christ as Savior.
NEWS UPDATES & PRAYER REQUESTS:
-- We’ve learned that one of the wounded NJ officers in last week’s shootout has died. Again, I don’t know the condition of his heart (saved or unsaved). Anyone know? Regardless, please pray for his family as well as for his wounded brothers. See http://www.policelink.com/news/articles/113214-wounded-nj-officer-pronounced-dead?page=1 for more.
-- Sgt. Joe Harris (Sandoval County, NM) was buried with full LE honors yesterday in NM. Please pray for his brothers/sisters in blue and for his spouse and children. Some of his colleagues are really struggling – let’s go to God together and ask our loving Father to stand in the Gap for them.
I asked whether or not Joe knew Christ as his Savior and several responded with an emphatic “YES.” Joe was very active at Calvary Rio Rancho and Pastor Robert Hall (whom I know) gave a powerful eulogy. That part of conspicuously omitted by the media, of course.
-- Thanks to all who prayed for me as I taught at my church’s Tuesday night service yesterday (“Tuesday Night Dialogue”). I’m told it blessed many and I’m very humbled that God would use me according to His purposes. I really encourage our locals and visitors to attend this powerful service. See http://calvarycsd.org/ministries.php?p=23#k23 for further details. Di and I are both actively involved in this and other ministries at our very “cop friendly” church and we encourage you to join us.
-- Randy Green of Mission Mobilization International (www.missionmobilization.org) sent the following prayer request: “Pray for Emery Esse (Detroit PD SWAT) and I as we travel to Managua, Nicaragua from July 26 to August 1st to train and minister to the police. We will be working with Bob Caiazzo who is our regional representative in Nicaragua. His full time ministry is working with the police in Nicaragua. Thank you for your prayers and support of this ministry. Together we are seeing a great harvest among the authorities in Mexico and other countries. God bless you.”
God is using Randy and MMI to bring thousands of officers in poor countries to Christ. It continues to amaze me that, here in the USA, so many officers continue to resist the call of Christ. Our battle is to continue the “great commission” (Matthew 28:18-20) and, as stated before, to “RUN TO THE BATTLE” in sharing and living the Gospel.
-- The 2009 FCPO Annual Conference will be held in Colorado this year at the famous Glen Eyrie Conference Center in Colorado Springs (www.gleneyrie.org/). It is set for early November. I’ll have more details as soon as things are finalized – stay tuned!
-- The Promise Keepers weekend is July 31-August 1. We will NOT be meeting next week in deference to the PK event. Ladies – this event is open to you as well! Those who can’t attend in person can also watch on the Web. See http://www.promisekeepers.org/ for further details. PK is an outstanding organization and this is a “not to be missed” event.
-- Finally check out this awesome rendition of Amazing Grace by Il Divo. The piper is amazing! I’ve linked it to our website as well. http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1785324681?bclid=1338935106&bctid=1913313052
Stay the course, run to the battle, and keep your armor on!
