LTC Grossman Update and Training Announcement
GROSSMAN UPDATE
I attended Lt. Col. Dave Grossman's Bulletproof Mind seminar today in Pueblo (packed house) and we had a few minutes to chat and catch-up a bit during breaks. He was one of the first to get a Centurion LE Ministry t-shirt and has been very encouraging both to me personally and to this ministry. Dave spends 300+ days a year on the road training and supporting law enforcement and military personnel. His books and seminars include many references to events right here in Colorado and are a "must read/must see" for ALL LE officers and (perhaps even more so) administrators. Dave is now partnered with Bruce Siddle of PPCT fame: check it out at http://www.warriorsciencegroup.com/ (great series of shooting videos as well).
TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT:
Finally, Lone Tree PD Sgt. Candace Mullins asked me to post the following training announcement (looks to be outstanding):
Training Bulletin
Lone Tree Police Department Hosting
February 25, 2009 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Using Multimedia Technology to Organize Major Crimes
This workshop will show the effectiveness of using multimedia technology to organize and present a major case. With the proliferation of audio, video, text, graphics and animation, prosecutors throughout the country are taking advantage of this approach in allowing the jury to fully see criminal cases. From the initial 911 call thru the follow-up investigation, jurors are able to understand how law enforcement conducted their investigation. This approach has proved successful in a number of murder cases most notably the Columbine High School Reinvestigation as well as the Scott Peterson murder trial. These cases along with a number of other high profile murder cases will be discussed and presented.
Instructor: Jon San Agustin
Inspector Jon San Agustin supervises the financial crimes unit, computer crimes unit, cold case unit, metro crime lab personnel, evidence facility and victim advocates for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. He has been developing interactive crime scene applications since 1992. He developed the interactive applications used on the Columbine High School reinvestigation, the Jon Benet Ramsey homicide, the Laci Peterson homicide trial as well as other high profile murder cases. Jon developed the first case ever used in the United States using multimedia technology as an organizational and presentation tool in both civil and criminal proceedings. He has developed applications for such cases as personal injury, patent and trade secret infringement, accidental death, medical malpractice, white-collar crime, child pornography, and homicide. Jon created the computer crime unit at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and has been involved in approximately 200 death investigations. He is a court-qualified expert on computer forensics at both the State and Federal levels and consults with District Attorneys across the United States on homicide cases. Jon has been a guest lecture for many state and federal law enforcement agencies and trial lawyer associations across the country and Canada . He has appeared on several television shows to include Atlanta Fox News, Discovery’s New Detective, 48 hours, Geraldo at Large, Larry King Live, Primetime Live, CBS Early Show, Good Morning America, CNN Live, and others.
