God's "300"
As everyone is certainly aware, the American people made their choice yesterday and, barring the Lord coming home for us in the interim, we will have to live with that for at least the next four years. Regardless, our Lord remains firmly on the throne. Our signature passage (Romans 13) tells us that all governments are established by God. That said, He gives those in authority free will in reference to how they will govern (either by HIS law or the world's). Remember that Paul wrote those words while under Nero’s rule – one of history’s most vicious and evil men who made it a practice to put Christians to death in ways that are unimaginable to us today!
So what now? We remain obedient and steadfast in prayer, take up our sword and armor (Ephesians 6:10-17), and – I’m serious here – PRAY for our new leaders. Pray for them? Yes! It is not only God’s command (1 Timothy 2:1) but in doing so God will use His own to influence our leaders. Just as this ministry pushes to infuse the law enforcement profession with godly men and women who will lead from a Biblical world view, so we must work towards that same end from the Presidency on down. Time to do battle here folks! I’ll have more on this later but, for now, I strongly encourage you to read Joel Rosenberg’s blog concerning the Christian response to our newly elected representatives: http://flashtrafficblog.wordpress.com.
This week we’re on track for our regular Saturday morning study from 0900-1000+ at Calvary South Denver in Littleton . Our topic is quite timely given this week’s events. Many of you may have seen the film “300” based loosely on the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. Did you know that God had his own “300?” Judges 7 tells the true story of how Gideon and 300 select warriors routed an evil and oppressive Midianite army some 200,000 strong (120,000 killed). This epic has great implications for us to today and especially for those of us serving in law enforcement. Rest assured, “God’s 300” is infinitely better than what took place at Thermopylae . Join us Saturday morning for “The Rest of the Story!”
NOTE: Our host church will also be holding its monthly Men’s Prayer Breakfast from 0800-1030 and will serving steak and eggs for $7. Retired DPD officer and current DPD chaplain Manny Hays is the cook! As you know, we strongly encourage LEOs to get outside their comfort zones and interact with godly men and woman who are not part of our profession. That said, male TCM folks should seriuosly consider coming early and having a great breakfast and fellowship with some awesome brothers before we meet for our study.
TCM GEAR: As per previous posts, our gear (shirts, hoodies and a limited number of polos) are IN and FREE to law enforcement personnel. Just a couple of rules: (1) one each please, and (2) LOCALS must attend a study to get them. Let me know in advance (size, black or blue color). Supply is limited so get yours while they last!
PRAYER REQUESTS (as always, send me your prayer requests or, better yet, come join us on Saturday so we can pray for and with you).
(1) As stated above, continue to be “on your knees” for our country and those who lead/will be leading us.
(2) A brother officer is currently “under-employed.” Please pray that God will open doors to the right agency and for financial provision in the interim.
(3) Pray for two local LEOs who are trying to get on with agencies in California (God’s will, provision, right agency(s), etc.).
(4) Pray for a colleague who is dealing with some very tough issues reference his family.
(5) Pray for me – I’m one sick puppy at the moment (“sick” as in medical, LOL).
Remember to help us get the “WORD” out by passing on our newsletters and website “411” to others. Hope to see you Saturday morning!
