Christian Voter Guide and Election Prayer Meeting

Thanks to everyone who showed for last week’s TCM meeting. For those who missed and may be following along, our Bible study centered on how we can be effective peacekeepers at work (station, field, jail, etc.). The bottom line is that we are ALL called to share by both “talking the talk” and “walking the walk” when it comes to living our faith. So how can we be “salt and light” (Matthew 5:13-16) at work? Check out this great Power Point prepared by The Peacekeepers author Deputy Mike Dye for some real life approaches to this subject: http://www.christianlawenforcement.com/PDF/4%20Basic%20Elements%20to%20Writing%20A%20Good%20Police.ppt.

We live in perilous times and work in a perilous profession. How many more officer funerals will you attend where you don’t know if your brother or sister was right with God before they died? How many more police suicides involving an unsaved and hurting officer? How many more will retire and die before they know Christ as Savior? Divorce and family issues? Our terrible health issues? How much longer will we endure awful law enforcement management and supervisors who fail to lead from a Biblical world view? Are you at the very least praying for your sergeants, lieutenants, captains, and chiefs? Prayer is perhaps the most important thing we can do to change our work environments and improve morale. Like the Nike commercial, “JUST DO IT!”

This Saturday (11/1/08, 0900, Calvary South Denver in Littleton) we’ll have a special hour of prayer and fellowship geared towards the upcoming election. The theme will center on praying for our nation along the lines of 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." Bring your personal prayer requests and needs as well. I’ll also have our apparel items on hand (t-shirts, hoodie sweatshirts and polos -- FREE to law enforcement personnel). Please try to let me know your size info in advance so I’ll know what to bring. They are going fast so get yours before they’re gone!

Speaking of VOTING: As stated previously, this is probably the single most crucial election we will face in our lifetimes. Please study the issues, become informed, and vote from a Christian (Biblical) perspective. Check out last week’s voting links (below) along with this really awesome short video sent by NM police officer Todd Griffin: http://68.178.170.193/index.php. Probably best to copy/paste it to your browser (safe). This is a great resource for your churches as well (see links to same on their site: Value Voters USA). In addition, radio show host and pastor Gino Geraci (listen on 94.7 FM or online at http://www.947krks.com/) had John Andrews on his show today and highlighted a superb voter guide for Believers (great site in general): http://backboneamerica.net/timely-relevant/#more-1267.
