"Bulletproof" & "Fireproof"

Fellow Servant-Warriors:

We had a great study last week revisiting the message behind Ephesians 6 (putting ON the whole ARMOR of God). It is notable that the passage says nothing about ever taking our armor OFF. The meaning, of course, is that we can’t “STAND” unless we are always armed and prepared! As Christians and law enforcement professionals, our goal is to be ever vigilant and prepared to withstand what Satan sends our way.

NEXT L.E. BIBLE STUDY & FELLOWSHIP: We’re “on” for this coming Saturday (092708) starting at/about 0900 at Calvary South Denver in Littleton . Our study will center on the Biblical and job-related issues that are at the heart of the new movie “Fireproof” that opens at area theaters this Friday. We’ll also talk about Denver PD Officer Todd Gentry’s book “Bulletproof” that is due out by year’s end (Todd: come share with us if you can get free!).

TCM apparel is HERE!!! We’ll be distributing our new T’s this Saturday (FREE, but you gotta show to get one)!! Great reviews so far: cool logo, great message, and a super tool to help us effectively share Christ with others.

As stated above, “Fireproof” opens this Friday at area theaters. Please join us in getting the “WORD” out to our fellow officers and firefighters alike. The movie was produced by the same folks who did “Facing the Giants” and comes with an unabashed spiritual message. This is also very much a couples film: BRING YOUR spouses! Dr. Phil (of all people) will be featuring both the film and related topics on his show this Friday (I’ll be taping it). Hopefully, Kirk Cameron will be have a chance to share his faith. PRAYER REQUESTS (we exist, in large part, to pray for/support one another):

(1) Pray for our leadership (both saved and unbelievers alike). We have some strong Believers who are in positions to positively influence others to and for Christ. Got a truly bad sergeant, lieutenant, or chief? Then spend time on your knees praying for them and their salvation. Are they already solid Believers? Then pray for us as well. Speaking only for myself, I truly COVET (not the “bad” covet) your prayers. I would think that any other Christian leader in LE would covet them as well. At the same time, we also need to be on our knees for our government leaders in these difficult times.
(2) Had another prayer request from Federal officer Krysia Baron in NM. She asks for prayer for her husband (sheriff’s deputy) and their overall financial/work situation. Pray that God intervenes and provides provision and intervention.
(3) Check out this link to www.grassfire.org reference imprisoned Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean. I am not getting into the political side of this but the evidence I’ve seen strongly points to these men being wrongfully convicted. Study the issue for yourself and pray for justice. (4) One of our LE sisters (Michelle) and her husband are the victims of theft and fraud (pirated software). Pray that the perpetrators will do the right thing and justice is done. Those around the victim have serious doubts that anything good will come of this but our prayer and response should be, “Yes, but God!”
(5) I’ll be speaking/teaching next week at my church’s Tuesday night service. Pray that God will give me direction and use me for His purpose. Everyone is free to attend: 1900 hours at Calvary South Denver in Littleton .
(6) Finally, continue to remember wounded CSP Trooper Scott Hinshaw as he faces more surgery. Scott is struggling but is a “trooper” (pun intended) in every way. He and Susan covet your prayers and support. I truly believe that God will ultimately use this terribly difficult scenario for HIS glory.
