"A Cop's Obedience"
Once again, our latest FCPO/Centurion Law Enforcement Ministry e-newsletter has gone out to our email subscribers (FREE) but, as always, I've posted it here as well -- just click on "A Cop's Obedience". While I always gear out studies towards sheepdogs (LEOs, combat military personnel, etc.), this week's study has direct application to everyone (the not so secret "secret" is that almost all of them do). In addition, I've included the usual bevy of announcements, prayer requests and resources. Don't forget to "pass-on" these newsletters/Bible studies as it is a great way to fulfill our Great Commission mandate.
The meeting schedules for our various Colorado Christian law enforcement fellowships have been updated as well: "eyes left/scroll down."
Finally, I want to give a huge shout-out to Chattanooga (TN) PD officer and fellow minister Jonathan Parker for not only what he is doing with the FCPO website but also for putting together this awesome logo that I hope to convert into a new t-shirt design in the near future (combines his Covered Law Enforcement "thin blue line covered with the blood of Christ" logo with our signature paraphrase of Romans 13:1-4):
Let's be safe and look out for one another on "the street" while maintaining an uncompromising and wholly obedient "Code 3" sense of urgency in sharing Christ with others (and out own in particular).

Cops and Suicide

Please pray for God's will and healing hand. Also pray for Archie and his wife Betty, for God's assurance, peace, comfort, and hope. Thank you so much for your prayers for this dear Brother and wife. To God be the Glory!"

FCPO Conference, Centurion Ministry Newsletter/Devotional, Prayer Requests and More
We are home from an amazingly successful (praise God) Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers (FCPO) National Conference and this week's Centurion Law Enforcement Ministry/FCPO Newsletter has been sent out to our contacts worldwide. PRAYER REQUESTS: Updated 10/01/2012
** Please pray for NMSP/SID Sgt. Lee Mullen who is in critical condition after suffering a heart attack.
** Pray for the Christian leaders (meaning those chiefs who are truly living their faith) at the IACP conference in CA this week (boldness in their faith and opportunities to share Christ).
** Pray for a deputy and his family reference serious financial problems (in danger of losing their home) and issues with their adult son as well.
** Praise Report! Thanks to all who prayed concerning this year's FCPO National Conference. God answered! That said, there were some who came who are also in need of prayer (families, job issues, etc.) -- just pray!
** Please pray for the newborn granddaughter of Chattanooga PD Sgt. Mike Minnick. Baby is having breathing problems and possible pneumonia.
** Pray that the Christian chiefs attending the IACP conference will be sold-out for their faith and share Christ openly. Pray also for Arkansas City, KS Chief Sean Wallace as he speaks tomorrow (10/2).
** A police chief writes, "Please pray for my son . He was in the police academy at the top of his class when he had a bicycle accident and broke his collar bone. This required him to leave the academy and he had surgery on 9/28. His PD does not have a lot of "light duty" work for him and because he has only worked for them two months he is already out of leave. He will be off work recuperating without pay. He has to recuperate enough by November 5th to join the next academy class where he left off or he will be released by his PD. Please pray for his healing, recuperation, and finances. He is a strong believer so he is trusting the Lord but he is a bit nervous about he will take care of his family."

Officer Down!
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
We are in mourning over the loss of Weld County (northern CO area) S.O. Deputy Sam Brownlee who was shot and killed in the line-of-duty today. I've included a couple of news links (media almost always gets it wrong). Sam is survived by his new bride and four kids. Please keep our brother's family and colleagues in your prayers. See http://www.odmp.org/officer/20571-deputy-sheriff-sam-brownlee . UPDATE 11/24/10: Sam was apparently shot with his own weapon after the perp was able to take control of it during a struggle. An Evans police officer returned fire and the suspect died a short time later. Latest story update: http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/25910241/detail.html
Good reminder that we all need to work hard on our arrest control skills!
No, I don't know yet if Sam knew Christ as his Savior. If any of my readers know Sam personally, would you please reach out to me and let me know? That said, this should be a somber reminder to all those who either have not made a decision for Christ or do know him as Savior but are not living "full on" for Him (don't be a ROD -- "Retired on Duty" -- Christian). Experience Salvation
Getting saved, accepting Christ, being born again…and many other phrases are used to speak of becoming a Christian. So what exactly is “salvation” anyway?
The Bible is a story of God and His love for humanity. It begins with God walking through the Garden of Eden every night with Adam and Eve. When they sinned (you know…the “eating the apple thing”), God’s sadness is sensed when He comes looking for them and they are hiding. Sin is separation from God and the relationship He desires with us.
Salvation is much more than a one-time prayer or an escape from Hell. God’s Son Jesus died for our sins so that there would be no more separation. God wants us to experience His love, grace, protection, and friendship on a daily basis – just like the relationship He had with Adam and Eve.
Salvation is an experience, a journey, a relationship with God that begins by asking Him to forgive our sins so that there is no more separation. The journey begins in this life and continues into eternity…heaven for those who are in relationship with God and hell for those who choose to remain separated.
To begin this relationship with God – to experience salvation – say a prayer like the one that follows and then get connected with another Christian who can help you on this new journey. Don’t forget to contact us to let us know!
Father God, I know that I have sinned and I believe your Son Jesus died for my sins. I ask you to forgive me and remove the separation between us. Help me to live each day in a way that does not offend you in this new relationship. Amen!
Folks -- like Dep. Brownlee, you don't know when you time will come. God has a plan for you both know and for eternity. Turn to Him today as there are no 2nd chances if your life ends without the assurance of salvation!
