PRAYER REQUESTS & MEETING UPDATES
UPDATED Meeting SCHEDULE:
* Thursday, August 12th, 7:00 PM, Calvary South Denver in Littleton (see http://www.calvarycsd.org/ for directions). Erv Meyer will be teaching a special profession-relevant message based on Caleb; I'll be back from Texas (same day); and I'll have an update on the Chris Dewey story (plus our usual time of warrior-fellowship, prayer, and more).
* Saturday, August 14th. 1st Annual Centurion LE Ministry BBQ at our place in Highlands Ranch. Come to the Aug. 12th meeting for the flyer or shoot me an email for details. Please RSVP if you plan to come (fullarmor911@yahoo.com).
UPDATED (08/11/2010) PRAYER REQUESTS -- I will be updating this post throughout the week as new requests arrive. See the previous posts for additional.
* Pray for a relatively young officer who is experiencing some debilitating migranes and additional health concerns.
* Please continue to pray for Dep. Chris Dewey's family, friends and colleagues (and Emily in particular). Our brother is now with the Lord but we must stay the course. Tributes and support can be posted on their CaringBridge site: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/chrisdewey.
* Pray for a CA police officer who likely does not know Christ as Savior and who has left his wife and kids for another woman/women. He apparently believes that he can lead this kind of sinful lifestyle and still call himself a "good dad." WRONG and totally unacceptable.
* Pray for a colleague who is seeking an opportunity to work out a location much close to home -- thus shortening his commute and increasing his family time (pray for his agency's favor in this request).
* A colleague and his wife are dealing with a full-blown spiritual attack in regards to their teen daughter and the plethora of issues surrounding her mental health. The situation is a nightmare and one where only our Lord's direct intervention can bring about a positive solution. Please join us in praying for Frank, Karen, their daughter, and the broken CPS/legal system that is further exacerbating the situation.
* Pray for a deputy and his family as they deal with their wayward teenage son (ETOH and related issues). Also pray for his wife as she seeks employment and their related financial issues.
* Please continue to pray for the leadership and staff of the Grand Junction (CO) PD.
* My friend and fellow warrior, former Kwajalein PD Sgt. Michael Jones, passed away this week. He was only 43 and may not have known Christ as Savior. Yes, I and others shared the truth with Mike but I must also admit that perhaps I was not forceful enough in sharing the Gospel with him. Pray for Mike's family and friends in this tough time -- and let's recommit ourselves to being obedient to the Great Commission AND walking-the-walk!
* A local PD sergeant (Candace, LTPD) writes,
Please keep retired Colorado Springs PD & El Paso County S.O Homicide Detective Lou Smit in your prays as he battles terminal cancer. Lou is the best detective I have been blessed to have known in my 30 plus year career. Lou often had his victim's picture in his wallet, while trying to find justice for them. Lou is one of the nicest people I have ever met and I pray that God will be with Lou and his family.
UPDATE: Lou passed away today (081210). More on his funeral as I have it but please keep our brother's family in prayer.
