Prayer Requests and Meeting Reminder

Folks:

I'm asking my fellow warriors to take out some extra time in your busy schedules to pray for Miami-Dade Detective Carlos Castillo who was critically injured in a vicious attack. Even after twenty-two years on "the job," I still find myself shocked from time-to-time and this incident is certainly one of those times. We live in an evil world with wolves waiting to devour not only the sheep but the sheepdogs called by God to protect them. If anyone has an update on Det. Castillo's status, please let me know. At last report, the horrific injuries Carlos sustained in the attack had left him in extremely critical condition. That said, our brother was still fighting for his life and the doctors have said that it is a miracle that Carlos is still alive. Here is the PoliceLink.com story: http://policelink.monster.com/news/articles/138402-officer-in-critical-condition-after-horrific-attack.

While you're at it, please be in prayer for the families and colleagues of the two deputies who were also killed on Monday (WI and NV). Nye County (NV) Deputy Ian Deutch had been back on duty just two days after returning from a National Guard deployment in Afghanistan when he was gunned down with a military-style weapon in relatively rural area of Nevada. To suggest that we (law enforcement) are not fighting a war right here on our own soil is naive at best. See http://www.odmp.org/ for the latest updates. Praise God that we managed to go over two weeks without a LOD death until Monday.

Finally (for our locals and visitors), don't forget tomorrow's fellowship/Bible study meeting at Calvary South Denver in Littleton starting at 1900 hours. JeffCo Dep. Art Briles will be teaching on the Miranda advisal from a biblical perspective.

Until then -- let's be sure we wear both our physical AND spiritual body army while taking care of each other out there amongst the wolves.
