Honoring Our Veterans
Fellow Sheepdogs:
As previously announced, there will be NO meeting tomorrow -- 11/12 -- night as I will be out-of-state attending to family matters. We'll be back at it next week (11/19) for our regular Thursday evening time of great "cop fellowship," profession-relevant Bible study and prayer. I'll also recap the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers (FCPO) National Conference that took place last weekend -- a terrific experience to say the least!
I also wanted to take a moment to wish all my fellow vets a very blessed Veteran's Day. I honour and thank you all for your service -- both military and in law enforcement -- to our nation. Hopefully, we are all flying our flags today. Let's stay the course and stand firm in the understanding that "so long as we breathe, we serve." At the same time, let's pray for our brothers and sisters currently serving in "harm's way."
PRAYER REQUESTS:
(1) Let's continue in prayer for the recovering wounded at Ft. Hood and for the families and colleagues of all those who "gave all." Pray also for our fellow officers who confronted the gunman and ended the threat -- outstanding behavior! I'll be driving through Killeen later this week and will do what I can to pay our respects.
(2) Mahnomen Co. (MN) Dep. Chris Dewey is recovering from his cranioplasty. Everything reportedly went well but our brother and his wife Emily need our continued prayers and support.
(3) For Chicago PD Ofc. Densey Cole in Chicago: God's protection and that Christian officers will come alongside him even in the face of opposition to same.
(4) CO State Investigator/TCLEF member Jimmy Wattles (of Gangland fame) sends the following:
"Retired Denver Officer Tony Ventura was hit by a car last Thursday night, while working foot patrol on at a security job. He got pretty banged up. As a result of his injuries, he has had a stroke early on Sunday and is in ICU at Swedish. No visitors, but let's keep Tony in prayer.
(5) For a Grand Junction PD colleague who is battling cancer and related issues. Our sister knows Christ as Savior (praise God) and covets our prayers/support.
(6) That we will be bold and obedient in sharing the Gospel with the lost in our profession.
(7) For a Colorado chief who just lost a dear family member and has gone home to Alabama to handle matters (traveling mercies, rest/energy to take care of matters, and relief from grief).
More next week -- let's RUN TO THE BATTLE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jL7cL_p5_84) and, as Pastor Sam says, STAY THE COURSE!
