Meeting Cancelled/Rescheduled, Officer Down Updates, and Late-Breaking Prayer Requests
Fellow Servant-Warriors:
I just spent the last 2.5 + hours digging out from our huge Fall snow storm. I had hoped things would clear up but, given the forecast, I would rather not have our Front Range officers and visitors on the road this evening. As such, tonight's Bible study is being canceled and rescheduled to this Saturday morning at 0900 (same location -- Calvary South Denver in Littleton). We'll plan on meeting in the MP room as there does not appear to be anyone else scheduled for it. Please pass this on to any area folks who may be coming tonight but are not yet on our mailing list.
Secondly, don't forget about the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers (FCPO) National Conference set for NEXT weekend (Nov 6-8) in Colorado Springs. FCPO Dir. Grant Wolf has informed me that there are LIMITED scholarships and day passes available for those who would like to attend but can't afford it. Please let me know via email ASAP if you are interested and we'll see what we can do.
WOUNDED OFFICER UPDATES
(1) Chicago PD Ofc. Densey Cole: We've been getting some very concerned calls and emails about Densey's welfare and safety in Chicago and have been informed that it the matter is being looked into (I hope "looked into" means NOW). Please pray for this brother who has gone through enough as it is.
(2) Mahnomen Co. (MN) Dep. Chris Dewey: Chris continues to be in rehab and is scheduled for his cranioplasty (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cranioplasty) surgery on Nov. 4th. PLEASE continue to pray for this brother and his wife Emily. I strongly suggest that folks register for regular updates through Dep. Dewey's CaringBridge site: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/chrisdewey.
(3) Denver PD Ofc. Allison Casias: Allison has improved enough to be moved out of Swedish to a rehab facility (praise God). They are also hosting a benefit for her today at Denver PD Dispatch and have posted info on where general donations can be sent, to wit:
Rocky Mountain Law Enforcement FCU
The Allison Casias Fund
700 W 39th AveDenver, CO 80216
303-458-6660
Interested parties should also subscribe to Allison's CaringBridge site: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/allisoncasias. Allison needs prayer for restoration both physically and spiritually. Pray for her family as well.
I'll have more in next week's newsletter!
LATE-BREAKING PRAYER REQUESTS & PRAISE REPORTS
(1) We've received word from Englewood PD Ofc. Shane Ellison that his young daughter's (Tayler) latest MRI showed no new cancer! She is still facing a great deal of additional chemo. Please keep this child and her family in prayer. The docs said that it was "a miracle." We serve an AWESOME God (Thank you/praise you Lord!!). Tayler's CaringBridge site is http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/taylerellison.
(2) Pray for a brother investigator who is still in the running for the Chief of Law Enforcement position with a Colorado State agency (God's will first).
(3) We've received word from a colleague in Grand Junction that the hospitalized daughter of a GJPD officer has improved enough to go home tomorrow. Praise God yet again!
(4) Pray for me as I counsel an officer who is dealing with some major issues that go all the back to Columbine. More importantly, pray for the officer in question.
(5) Pray that the Holy Spirit will draw those who both NEED and want to come to the FCPO Confence. Pray also for Grant, me, Matt Wallenburg and the other ministry leaders who will be speaking at the conference.
(6) Stockton (UT) Ofc. Josh Rowell was suspended by the mayor for ticketing the mayor's son!! He will at their counsel meeting tonight. Pray that (a) SPD Chief Kopp stands up for his officer, that the officer is reinstated, and that justice is served. Small town politics destroys lives and careers on a daily basis. LEAD and pray folks! See Fellow Servant-Warriors:
Stay safe out there and we'll see you Saturday AM.
