Servant-Leadership in Law Enforcement
As per the earlier announcement, this week’s meeting will be tonight (Thursday, March 5th) starting at 6:30 PM at Calvary South Denver, 9052 W. Ken Caryl Avenue in Littleton. As such, we will NOT be meeting this Saturday. Pass the word and invite a friend/colleague!
Thanks for the all the prayers/support for Diana and I as we got away to celebrate our first anniversary in Estes Park this past weekend. Special “kudos” go to FPD Chief Dave Gottschalk who turned me around after I was initially called out to deal with a sexual assault/attempted homicide. Dave and my colleagues handled things just fine in my absence and I was therefore able to keep “family first.”
As reported previously, last week’s study answered a plethora of questions surrounding “what happens when we die.” Pastor Ed Taylor of Calvary Chapel Aurora provided us with an awesome summary that will soon be posted here on our website (stay tuned). Thanks Bro. Ed!
Bottom line? God’s Word is clear: Contrary to Oprah, there is only ONE WAY to Heaven and that is through a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. By the same token, those who refuse to repent of their sins and take that free-will step of faith will be eternally separated from Him (aka “Hell”). See http://www.bible.org/page.php?page_id=400 for further! This is not my “opinion” but rather fact based on His Word to us (the Bible). Are you right with God? If not, turn to Him now before it is too late. How? See http://www.pofci.org/knowJesus.htm for more. Don’t wait folks: Being cops or thinking you’ve been “good enough” will NOT get you a “get out of jail free” card when it comes to where you will spend eternity! Please feel free to call or email me if you are ready to make that all-important step and I will be honored to help lead you “home.”
This week’s study will center on the concept of biblical “servant leadership” in law enforcement. Given the current vacuum of godly leadership in our profession, the topic couldn’t be more timely and serves as a direct commission to all of us (regardless of rank).
PRAYER REQUESTS
(1) I have not received an update from Englewood (CO) PD concerning EDP Officer Shane Ellison’s cancer-stricken daughter. Please continue to pray for four year-old Tayler and her family.
(2) Albuquerque PD Detective Vince Harrison is asking that we pray for his colleagues who are working long hours sifting through a massive crime scene there. Thirteen bodies so far! See http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/sns-ap-desert-bodies-found,0,6286248.story for more.
(3) Please pray for a brother officer who is facing some tough choices regarding where he will be serving in the future.
(4) Continue to pray that our nation’s elected officials will steer us away from the current run towards socialism and will return to the godly principles on which our country was founded.
(5) Pray for a colleague who is experiencing some very challenging health problems.
(6) Finally, continue to pray for a ranking Christian LEO who is recovering from open heart surgery. Praise God, he is progressing nicely. As this week’s study topic will attest, we DESPERATELY need solid Christian servant-leaders in our profession and, as such, let’s lift our brother up so that he can get back to doing the work God has set out for him.
