From Grant Wolf/FCPO

I sent out this "411" as an email earlier this week but did not have a chance to post it until now.

Fellow Warriors:

I've included an update on the situation in Oakland as well as some additional prayer requests submitted by Grant Wolf of FCPO. In addition, be advised that we will NOT be meeting this Saturday but will rather meet a week from Thursday (April 2nd) from 6:30-7:30 PM at Calvary South Denver in Littleton. Don't forget to pass the information on!

More in the newsletter that will be Thursday. Until then, put on your armor (spiritual and kevlar) and take care of one another as we lead and serve.

FROM GRANT WOLF (FCPO)

Dear Brothers& Sisters,

We wanted to pass on to each of you the below request we received from Rev. Dr. Chuck Lorrian, Executive Director of the International Conference of Police Chaplains, regarding the deaths of our Oakland brothers last Saturday. Please keep Oakland PD in your prayers.

Good Evening:
I am writing on behalf of the Oakland Police Department (CA) in regards to their four line-of-duty-deaths this past Saturday.Oakland PD has been in contact with our office and will contact us shouldthe need arise for additional chaplaincy support. They appreciate all yourprayers and ongoing support.

They do however, kindly request that you do not call or email the department at this current time with offers of help, etc. as they and their systems are overwhelmed at present.
We (ICPC) will inform you if a request for assistance comes in. In the meantime, pleasekeep them and their families in your prayers.

Blessings,Rev. Dr. Chuck LorrainExecutive DirectorInternational Conference of Police ChaplainsP.O. Box 5590Destin, FL 32540850-654-9736

March 10, 2009 - Sgt. Tom O’CONNOR has an aggressive form of bone cancer called chondrosarcoma. He underwent extensive surgery to remove a tumor from his sacrum and tragically, a complication from the surgery resulted in blindness. The cancer has returned and metastasized and spread throughout his body. He is awaiting an experimental treatment which is not FDA approved. March 10, 2009 - Officer Stephen Owsinski, Temple Terrace (FL) Police Department: Battling a “very rare cancer” (hemangioperisarcoma) since 1987 with 13 tumors excised thus far from the leg and a grueling month of radiation therapy …currently fighting yet another recurrence and infections (ulcerations). These words are for Officer Owsinski: “I spent too many hours this past weekend, bleary-eyed, reviewing all my Moffitt medical records. The plethora of mistakes and misstatements I found are incredibly disheartening!

Waiting for a treatment plan. Losing weight and nausea constantly (no chemo or radiation treatment involved) continue to pray for healing in Steve’s life. He has a wonderful wife and 4 beautiful children. I would ask for a prayer of agreement from our brothers and sisters in law enforcement nationwide and worldwide and I will keep you posted. Tony Velong, Chief of Police, Retired.
