Are you "Bulletproof?"
Christian Cop Fellowship and Bible Study:
LOCALS and visitors: We’ll meet as usual this Saturday (12/6) for a great hour of Christian-warrior fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. Jefferson County Deputy Art Briles will be teaching on the most appropriate topic of the Centurion (Roman police officer) of Christ’s time as it relates to us today. Not to be missed – and remember that spouses are encouraged to attend!
To recap, last week’s study dealt with the importance of giving thanks to God in even the toughest of times and the corresponding importance of fellowship. Reference the latter, the Greek word used in the Bible for fellowship is koinania and relates to being “bound together” in partnership. This concept certainly relates to us in law enforcement but, more importantly, it expresses the idea that Christians – including Christian officers – should have be in partnership in spreading the message of salvation to others. See Philippians 1:3-11, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Psalm 50:14-23, and Psalm 116:17 for more.
DPD OFFICER IN THE NEWS:
Denver PD officer and newly published author G.T. “Todd” Gentry will have a book signing for Bulletproof this Friday (email him for details). Denver Post columnist William Porter also recently wrote a great article on Todd and his book (Imagine – a positive article about cops in the media!!!). Check it out at http://www.denverpost.com/porter/ci_11058889 and also see http://www.abulletprooflife.com/ for details on how you can own and/or distribute copies of the book.
NOTE: Much of the proceeds from book sales will go to charity.
PRAYER REQUESTS (as always, send me your prayer requests or, better yet, come join us on Saturday so we can pray for and with you):
(1) The son of a Northglenn (CO) officer is dealing with cancer and both our brother and his family covet your prayers and support. I'll have more on this in a separate post.
(2) Two colleagues are seeking God’s direction reference hopes of moving to California . Pray for God’s will and direction.
(3) Continue to pray for a Denver PD officer who is close to accepting Christ as Savior.
(4) A colleague is facing surgery this week. Pray for healing and a speedy recovery.
(5) Pray for a Chief back east who is doing well professionally but dealing with some tough personal issues (broken engagement and related).
(6) Pray for a young man who just got out of the academy and is interviewing for a police position this week.
(7) Pray for Diana and I as we travel to Texas to visit my folks and my son.
(8) Keep this ministry in your prayers and continue to hold me accountable.
Finally, continue to help us "spread the Word" to our fellow warriors by passing on this newsletter to others.
